recombinant, non-replicating adeno-associated virus serotype 2 (AAV2) vector, with a mutated variant of capsid protein VP1 (AAV2.7m8), encoding a codon-optimised fusion protein that consists of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-binding portions from the extracellular domains of human VEGF receptors 1 and 2 fused to the Fc portion of human IgG1, under control of a human cytomegalovirus promoter, preceded by an adenovirus tripartite leader sequence, synthetic intron and Kozak sequence, followed by a scaffold attachment region (SAR), and terminated by a human growth hormone (hGH) polyadenylation sequence, flanked by AAV2 inverted terminal repeats (ITRs). The mature expressed protein is equivalent to aflibercept (96)(57).
